RetentionTek vs Birdeye
RetentionTek vs Birdeye
Birdeye is a reputation and customer-experience platform for multi-location brands: reviews, listings, surveys, messaging and location dashboards. It is priced per location and quoted. RetentionTek is a $199 retention layer for one location, $99 a month per extra site, that scores return behaviour from imported visits. Birdeye is the safer logo; we are the cheaper fit.
Where they are strong
Where Birdeye is strong
- Review monitoring and listings management across dozens of directories. We do neither.
- Multi-location dashboards with sentiment by location. Ours is a location selector.
- 200,000+ businesses claimed, which reads as safety to a buyer who has never heard of us.
- A median review response of 1h47m in one third-party test, the best measured.
- Survey tooling and a customer-experience suite well beyond retention scoring.
Where we differ
Where RetentionTek differs
- A published price. Birdeye asks for your location count before it shows anything, and quotes per location.
- At three locations the reported Birdeye figure is roughly $900 to $1,200 a month. Ours is $397: $199 plus $99 for each extra site, published.
- Time to first value is one CSV import. Onboarding is reported at about 11 hours including a mandatory kickoff call.
- Monthly and self-serve. Birdeye is quote-based, which usually means a call.
- The score measures returns, not sentiment. Reviews tell you what people said; we tell you who stopped coming.

Price reality
The per-location model at one, two and three sites
Birdeye prices per location. Third-party analyses report a public Starter around $299 per location per month and Growth around $399, with a custom tier above four locations. The pricing page asks for location count before it shows a figure.
- One location on reported Starter: about $299/mo.
- Three locations on reported Growth: about $1,197/mo.
- A five-location Growth quote was reported at $1,995/mo.
- RetentionTek at one, two or three locations: $199, $298, $397.
Per-location pricing is correct for a ten-site group and wrong for a two-site owner, because the second site does not double the retention work. We charge $99 for the second site rather than $299, and say plainly that above about three locations you want a different product.

Keep your booking system, and probably your reputation tool
Birdeye and RetentionTek barely overlap. If reviews and listings are the problem, Birdeye solves it. If the problem is that regulars quietly stop booking, that is a visit-history question and it needs the visit history, not the review feed. Running both is a normal outcome.
Frequently asked questions
Practical answers
Is RetentionTek a Birdeye alternative?
Partly. Both touch customer communication, but Birdeye is a reputation platform and RetentionTek measures return behaviour from visit history. If you are choosing one tool to do both jobs, Birdeye covers more surface. If retention is the job, we are the narrower and cheaper instrument.
How much does Birdeye cost at three locations?
Third-party 2026 analyses put reported per-location pricing at roughly $299 to $399 depending on tier, so three locations lands around $900 to $1,200 a month before add-ons. Birdeye does not publish a rate card, so treat that as reported and confirm it in a quote.
Does RetentionTek handle reviews?
Not today. Review-request automation is the next product gap we intend to close, because it is the cheapest retention-adjacent win and it feeds our own review count. Until it ships, keep whatever sends review requests now.
What does onboarding involve?
One completed-visit export, mapped on import, then a score once enough history exists. There is no kickoff call and no implementation project. The trade is that you do the export yourself; if you want someone to run it for you, a managed service is the better buy.
Do you support more than three locations?
You can run more, and the location selector works. But the product is designed for one to three sites, and at ten you will want the multi-location reporting a platform like Birdeye or Zenoti already has. Saying that out loud is cheaper than discovering it after signing.
What does it cost at two or three locations?
$199 a month for the first location and $99 a month for each additional one, so $298 at two sites and $397 at three. All of it is published, monthly, cancel any time, with no setup fee to start. That is the whole schedule; there is no quote step.
